Face Not Found started from a simple, frustrating realization: the tools to watch, track, and identify ordinary people have gotten cheap, automated, and quietly everywhere — while the tools to understand and push back against any of it have stayed scattered, technical, and hard to find.
License plate readers that log every car that passes. Doorbell cameras networked into systems police can query. Facial recognition running in stores that never asked permission. Data brokers selling your location history to whoever pays. None of this required your consent, and most people have no idea how much of it is already happening around them.
We don't think the answer is panic, and we don't think it's giving up either. It's understanding what's actually out there, knowing what your rights actually are, and having a few real, practical tools — not gimmicks — for the parts you can control.
That's what this store is. Some of what we sell is gear: things that block a signal, jam a plate reader's read, or just make a clear statement that you've noticed. Some of it is knowledge — our Ghost Protocol guide and the articles on our blog exist because we'd rather explain how something works than sell you fear about it.
We try to be straight about all of it, including where reasonable people disagree — you'll find the other side of the argument represented in our blog posts, not just the case for alarm. We're not a big company. We're not selling a lifestyle. We just think privacy shouldn't be something you have to be an expert to hold onto.
